Gardening has been a passion of mine since childhood, starting with growing herbs and vegetables. I am absolutely passionate about perennials; I love profusion and lots of color, whether, foliage or flower. I enjoy using natural stone and rustic wood in my designs. The use of these organic materials brings a beautiful, timeless appeal to my design work. I particularly enjoy designing Mediterranean and Cottage style gardens.
The dynamic nature of the Bay Region's climate makes the sustainable and ecological garden, also known as the natural garden, an ever more prominent choice in the landscape. The natural approach to landscape design and maintenance conserves water and energy, limits green waste and provides a natural habitat for many local species of birds and butterflies. The English, Cottage, formal Italian, or French-inspired design can even be reinterpreted using drought-tolerant native or xeriscape Mediterranean plants, all being well suited to the Bay Area's climate and soils.

I have been designing and coordinating the installations of gardens in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1980. Aside
from intuition, early trial and error, and decades of experimentation, my
formal training and education include attending MerrittCollege in Oakland,
California and graduating from The California
